Happy 100th Birthday To Jonas Salk Who Saved The world

Well, the name might not sound familiar but this man saved the world after seven years of researching and  creating the first  successful inactivated polio vaccine.

Salk, who died in 1995, is remembered Tuesday around the medical world; there’s even a Google doodle perched atop its search page.

Until 1957, when the Salk vaccine was introduced, polio was considered one of the most frightening public health problems in the world. In the postwar United States, annual epidemics were increasingly devastating. The 1952 U.S. epidemic was the worst outbreak in the nation’s history. Of nearly 58,000 cases reported that year, 3,145 people died and 21,269 were left with mild to disabling paralysis,[1] with most of its victims being children. Nigerian dad sues US school after daughter is banned over Ebola fears

A Nigerian father (pictured above) has sued a school in the US, Connecticut elementary school, saying his 7-year-old daughter was discriminated against and banned from school for 21 days based on irrational fears of Ebola because she attended a wedding in Nigeria.

Stephen Opayemi filed the lawsuit in federal court in New Haven, Connecticut. He asked a judge to order the schools in Milford, Connecticut, to immediately permit his daughter to return to her third-grade class.

Opayemi’s daughter has not experienced any symptoms associated with Ebola and her health is fine, but parents and teachers were concerned she could transmit Ebola to other children, the lawsuit says.

New Zambia President: First White President In Africa…………

Vice President Guy Scott was sworn in today as the interim president of Zambia following the death of Zambian president, Michael Sata yesterday Oct. 28th after a long protracted illness. This makes Mr Scott, who is of Scottish descent but born in Zambia, the first white president in Africa since apartheid.

Guy Scott, 70, became Vice-president of Zambia in 2011 and will serve as interim-president pending when the country holds fresh elections for a new president within 90 days. The Zambian constitution makes it impossible for Scott to be president because his parents were not born in Zambia.

BOKO-HARAM OVERTAKE ARMY HEAD-QUATERS IN ADAMAWA

According to a report by Sahara Reporters, suspected members of Boko Haram entered Mubi town in Adamawa state today Oct. 29th and took over the army headquarters of the 234 battalion in the town.

The troops guarding the barracks reportedly initially exchanged fire with the sect men but fled after they realized they were outnumbered by the militants and their heavy firepower.

In a related development, the sect members are reported to have attacked Uba and Hildi towns and other locations in Borno and Adamawa states this morning Oct. 29th. According to residents of the villages, the sect men arrived in the early hours, shooting at them, burning buildings and forcefully took away their food stuff.

STRIPPED NAKED: Shoplifter Caught Red Handed By Shop-Owner

A female shoplifter was stripped to her waist by a merciless store owner after she was caught stealing in her store. The shoplifter, 28 year old Yu Chung, went into the store in China’s Zhejiang province to buy clothes and stuffed some into her bag without paying for them.

The angry store owner, 39 year old Mei Hsueh, who caught her red handed, descended on her, removed her top to prevent her from running away, then removed her bra and pushed her outside of her store. Of course a crowd gathered to watch, some took photos and shared them online…

RIP: Zambia’s President, Michael Sata, dies at 77

President of Zambia, Michaal Sata has died yesterday October 28th at the age of 77 at the King Edward VII hospital in the United Kingdom after suffering from an undisclosed ailment.
Born July 6 1937, Mr Sata was elected Zambia’s President in September 2011. He is survived by wife Christine and 20+ children. May his soul rest in peace, Amen
