Danladi Amadu who claims to be the Secretary of the Boko Haram group has blamed the recent attacks and killings in some towns in Borno and Adamawa states on a “faceless” group.

According to Amadu, Boko Haram was not responsible for the recent raids after the ceasefire announcement, Daily Trust reports.

He said: “They are some faceless groups, who subject Nigerians to hardships in the name of our group. Secondly, this government’s (troops) bodies is also tarnishing Boko Haram’s name. They go and block roads, kill and confiscate people’s monies in order to satisfy their superiors.”

The Boko Haram secretary once again confirmed the ceasefire agreement between the Federal government and Boko Haram during an interview with the VOA Hausa radio yesterday, October 21.

He stated that there were indeed discussions and true members of Boko Haram have welcomed the ceasefire agreement, adding that any breach on the agreement was not from real members of the sect.

“Every members of our sect has agreed with this ceasefire. Presently, I am about to start a meeting with some members, who are in Nigeria. They called me and showed their support to it and I am going to advise them to stop and to communicate same via phone to our other members,” he said.

Barely 24 hours after the ceasefire agreement was announced, a number of towns in Borno and Adamawa had come under attack by men suspected to be Boko Haram members.

Asked about the latest attacks, Amadu replied: “We are not aware of the attacks and there is nothing to indicate that they were our members.”

On the release of the missing Chibok girls who were abducted on April 14, 20148, the Boko Haram secretary said the final decision rests on the government who is supposed to set guidelines and time to meet the government of Chad over the issue.

“It is after the meeting of the Nigerian government with Chadian government, that we would be intimated with what they finalized.

“We believe in this ceasefire, we believe in having peace in our country and we are ready to show this sincerity by handing over the girls hand to hand,” he said.

He therefore called on the government to expose all those carrying out attacks under the guise of Boko Haram, while also promising that the sect will launch investigation on those that attacked the towns after the ceasefire agreement, to ascertain their identity.
